Communication and Transport, ADX

Communication, in particular trains, cars, vans etc. are viewed as a means of transportation that transforms the physical conditions of exchange, proclaimed to be the abolishment of space in relation to time, according to Marx becoming a historical and material necessity for capital, as Grundrisse would state “Capital by its nature drives beyond every spatial barrier”. In the foremost, the products of communication and transport can only become a force in existence in the capitalist mode of production from the realization of labour from the influence of capital, insofar to production becomes a cheap mechanism to that communication and transport becomes a “condition for production based on capital, and promoted by it for that reason.” However, transport and communication doesn’t determine a mode of circulation, but only concerned in the bringing of the product towards the market or the fusion into a commodity. As such, communication becomes another central ingredient in the production stage. Nonetheless, the transport of circulation will determine the reappearance and modification of capital in the relationship of the money form from the essence of “the conditions of production”. Equally the production in the means of communication from the variable of the physical conditions of circulation (a truck), is a constant variable in the production of fixed capital. However, Marx would acknowledge that fixed capital is not necessarily the accumulation of capital in the individual’s consumptions, but only for the production phase. Rather he would say “A house can serve for production as well as for consumption; likewise all vehicles, a ship and a wagon, for pleasure outings as a means of transport; a street as a means of communication for production roper, as well as for taking walks etc.” Besides this, a notable characteristic of fixed capital is the paying of an individual paying it for its use value – as with resources of communication, transport. However, it’s important to note that, let’s say for example, a railway never leaves the production process in the process of fixed capital; rather communication can be used as a means of consumption in the use value process; in instance holiday travel as Marx would use as an example. Communication though, through the progress of civilisation, create new results of communication from the “the productive powers of labour itself – such as results from science, inventions, division and combination of labour”. It therefore, according to Marx “enriches not the worker but rather capital; hence it only magnifies again the power dominating over labour; increases only the productive power of capital. Since capital is the antithesis of the worker, this merely increases the objective power standing over labour.”
